My laser cut transparent orange acrylic sheet eurorack case

Lately I’ve been designing a eurorack case in beautiful transparent fluorescent orange plexiglass that perfectly fits a Doepfer A-100 DIY kit. I was in need of a rack and I thought I could make something more fun than the low cost plywood ones. The result is a cool looking 6U 2 x 84 HP eurorack.

I have done a few iterations of prototyping. The first one was made out of 3mm sheets. It turned out too thin and it broke when I lifted it. I looked around for thicker sheets, but it turned out it was impossible to find colored transparent ones in Europe. I managed to find 6mm sheets in the US which I had to ship to sweden at a really high cost.

At first I thought about assembling the rack with glue, but my friend and sensei Per pointed me to an excellent assembly technique where you laser cut holes for screws and square nuts for a really quick and sturdy assembly. Read more here.

Another thing I added after the second prototype was rubber feet. At first the idea was the rack should be standing on its sides, but I realised that could cause damage to the surface it was standing on.

So to make a rack you laser cut the design from 6mm acrylic sheets (or any other material) and fasten it with M3 square nuts and screws. The A-100 DIY kit rails, power supply and bus boards mounts perfectly into the case.

I’m thinking about maybe manufacturing a larger quantity and sell as kits if there is interest. The price would be somewhere around $190. Drop a comment or send a mail to [email protected] if you would be interested in maybe buying one, or if you have questions or feedback.
